Tires For Sale - Things You Must Know

Are you the one who is looking for the sign or ad displaying “Tires for sale”? What person has not had to deal with tires that have gone bad? Or had a blow out on the highway? I think it is fair to say that at one point in time in each driver’s life they will have to consider buying new tires; and what an expense in both time and money. You have to go to a tire store, have the tires measured and matched if you do not need all four at one time. They have to be the same size and balance to be in good working order. In order to know all the information you need to get good tires that will allow you to have a safe drive let’s look at what you have to be knowledgeable about.

What to know before you buy the tires

In today’s car world, there are a plethora of makes and models of tires for sale available; so which one is right for your vehicle? How do you know which tires your particular car needs? The very first place to look for information concerning you vehicle and the tires that are specific to it is the car's manufacture manual. There is a section where they discuss the exact model of tire as well as what size of tire is needed. Always purchase tires that are sanctioned for your particular vehicle.

There are some numbers on every tire made, let’s discuss what these numbers mean. The numbers stand for Vehicle Application, Tire Width, Aspect Ratio, Radial Designation, Wheel Diameter, Load Index, Speed Rating, Official DOT (Department of Transportation) Ply construction, load and pressure limits and tread wear ratings.

Some of those numbers will not mean a thing to the everyday average driver, but some are important to know and understand when you are searching for “tires for sale”. For example, tire size obviously will mean a great deal to you, get the wrong size and your car will not drive correctly and be extremely unsafe. Speed Rating is also important to the driver because this basically tells you at what speed your tire will fail, and while not many tires will blow at 60 mph, some will at 120! Also of importance is the Tread wear and Traction numbers. The higher the tread rating the more miles you will be getting out of the $200 tire you just bought. The higher number also means you will get a bit better gas mileage than you would with lower tires, this being due to a harder rubber being used in the tires manufacturing process. The downside to this however is that the harder the rubber the more difficult it is to handle the car. So if you are the type of person who has a great car with a handling package installed, you probably will want a softer tire to eat up the corners.

You really need to know your driving habits when looking up tires for sale. Think about how often as well as when and where you drive. Do you drive mostly highways where the stress on the tires are less and you want a smooth ride, or do you drive country roads that are not always the best maintained roads which require your tires to be a bit tougher? For most average drivers, the all season tires do fine.

Price is another consideration when searching for tires for sale. You can buy tires at Chain Stores, Tire Stores, Gas stations as well as on the Internet. Prices will vary from store to store so doing some comparison shopping is a great way to ensure you get the best tire for the best possible price. If you're one of those individuals whose concerned about steep prices cheap tires on sale should be the order of the day.

If you rotate your tires annually, you will see longer wear in them. This means that you are balancing out the wear the tire suffers from the car and road. This can be done for a small cost when you are purchasing your tires. Make sure that each one on your vehicle is the same make and model, do not go for those cheap tires on sale and place two of one make of tire and two of another make on your car. This will ruin the suspension of the car and end up costing you far more than simply buying a set of four matched tires.

After purchasing the tires you need for your particular vehicle, make sure you have a professional install them. They have special machines that can take the old tires off the rims and place the new tires on, plus you will be assured that the tires are installed correctly, very important when you are driving 70 miles per hour on the highway.

Make sure that whomever you purchase your tires from provides you with a warranty for the tires and service and that you are fully aware of all return policies. Keep all your paper work for work done to the tires for sale as well as any other part of your vehicle in a folder so you can refer back for date, price and store location if you need to have future work done or future complaints.
